When fall rolls around, we often start to think about pulling out the sweaters, and boots, but here in the Kamloops Retirement Community it is not quite the case. We are lucky to have warm summer weather even throughout the early fall in Kamloops leaving us with plenty of enjoyable indoor and outdoor activities. Follow along through our fun fall activity suggestions.
Fall Fishing
One thing Kamloops is known for is its accessibility to an array of fishing options. Fall fishing is especially popular as the weather is mild and more comfortable to spend time in all day rather than the scorching summer heat. Since fall is also the traveling off-season, it is often much more peaceful and less crowded by the lake as well. With over a hundred lakes near The Residence at Orchards Walk, there is no doubt you will be able to find an open lake to fish at. Grab a friend or two and sit back and relax by the fishing dock.
This year Kamloops will be hosting the 2023 World Fly Fishing Championships so come on by and watch with your friends, family, or loved ones.
Strolling Through Farmers Markets
Visiting one of Kamloops’ local Farmers Markets is a great social and physical activity to enjoy near The Residence, a Kamloops Retirement Community. Strolling through the market to enjoy the fresh and local produce, interact with the community, and get a nice long walk in are just a few of the benefits. The fall time is always the best for Farmers Markets as seasonal items such as pumpkins, thanksgiving decor, spices, and more, are often showcased at this time of year.
The Kamloops Farmer’s Market is open mornings and early afternoons on Saturdays and Wednesdays and features an array of vendors.
Sipping at Coffee Shops
Visiting a coffee shop is a great way to get cozy and relaxed while opening yourself up to the possibility of meeting other retirees and trying some yummy treats and drinks. In the fall, coffee shops often offer seasonal drink options such as pumpkin spice lattes or apple cider which add to the cozy, autumn ambiance. Many coffee shops also hold community events, or live music which provide retirees the opportunity to enrich themselves with both intellectual and cultural stimulation.
Supporting local coffee shops in the Kamloops community is always a great idea as you are not only contributing to the community’s economic well-being but can treat yourselves to a delicious treat and the opportunity to meet others and find a sense of belonging in The Residence, a Kamloops Retirement Community.
