Are you looking to move into a Kamloops retirement community or have you been living at The Residence for a while? Either way, you might be looking for some new activities to do during the colder months as many others keep themselves busy with their family and friends on-site. Whether you want to participate in indoor activities or take a step outside and breathe in the cool temperatures, there are numerous things you can do to spend your time.
Here are 4 activities to enjoy when living at a retirement community in Kamloops:
Western Canada Theatre
Are you looking to watch some live performances by both local and visiting acts this holiday season? You can expect to see acts ranging from poignant dramas to lively musicals, either with a friend or family member, or simply just by yourself if you’d like to enjoy yourself. They have shows at various times that can accommodate your schedule, and even offer educational programs and workshops such as acting classes and public speaking workshops to help promote arts and encourage seniors to try something new around their Kamloops retirement community.
Privato Vineyard and Winery
If you are wanting a change of scenery other than your suite or other common areas within the Kamloops retirement community when having a nice glass of wine, you can try out the tasting room located at this Kamloops vineyard and winery. This location also transforms itself around Christmas to create a winter wonderland for people of all ages to enjoy, with a hay wagon ride through the patch. Take a stroll through the “Candy Cane Lane” and pick out a pre-cut fir Christmas tree to take home for your family.
Canadian Pacific Holiday Train
The holidays are a season of giving and what better way to give than to help the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train raise money, food and awareness for local food banks in communities along their network, such as Kamloops. This event is free to attend and we recommend bringing someone along so you can enjoy the performances with a loved one. You can expect the train to arrive on December 16, 2022 with the event beginning at 5pm at the north side of Sandman Centre parking lot on Lorne street.
Wildlights Festival at the BC Wildlife Park
Do you enjoy looking at the beautiful light displays set up around Christmas, but want to venture out of your Kamloops retirement community and see some different set ups? The BC Wildlife Park has set up over 1 million lights and is running from December 9 2022 to January 2, 2023 from 5pm to 9pm every night, excluding Christmas Day. If you start to feel chilly, there are 10 cozy fire pits to warm up with your hot chocolate. You are also welcome to capture the moment forever by taking lots of photos and videos with your family and friends during your time here.
