Kamloops comes alive in the summer! With a wide variety of outdoor events and activities, There’s plenty to do in our Community for Seniors living in a Kamloop’s Retirement Residence. Here are a few ideas to get you started with your summer fun!
Shop Kamloops Local at Our Community Market
Kamloops is home to two summer Farmer’s markets: The Kamloops Farmers’ Market and the Kweseltken Farmers’ Market. Both markets are excellent ways to support local artisans and farmers!
The Kamloops Farmers Market has been running for more than 40 years and is a must if you’re in the Kamloops community! From bread to handmade artisanal gifts – the farmers market has it. In the summer, the market is outside every Saturday and Wednesday.
The Kweseltken Farmers’ and Artisan Market features locally crafted and grown items by both indigenous and non-indigenous local businesses. The market runs every Sunday during the summer and, if you’re lucky, you may even be able to catch some live music while you’re shopping!
Take a Public Art Walking Tour
Kamloops is home to plenty of beautiful outdoor art! Try taking a self-guided tour in downtown Kamloops to see art displays by local artists or check out the back alley gallery – a collection of 30 eclectic outdoor murals in downtown Kamloops alleyways.
Join an Art Workshop at Kamloops Art Party
Kamloops Art Party offers paint lessons and workshops – many of which are drop in. Check out their upcoming events and workshops and get the chance to flex your creative muscles this summer!
Check out a Baseball Game
Summer is the perfect time to catch a baseball game! Kamloops is home to the Kamloops North Paws, grab some peanuts and crackerjacks and enjoy a game out in the sun.
Kamloop’s Summer Theatre under the Trees
Every Summer, Project X theatre productions hosts Theater under the Trees – interior BC’s only outdoor summer theatre festival. Two high quality theater productions take place in Prince Charles Park and provide a fun opportunity for time outside and cultural enrichment. Check out what’s playing here.
Kamloop’s International Buskers Festival
Hosted annually, the International Busker’s Festival has multiple outdoor stages across Riverside Park in Kamloops. The event is free to attend, but (as it is with all buskers) tips are welcomed at the end of a performance. As an added bonus, the festival features many of our local Kamloops food trucks to provide festival goers with lots of delicious food options.
