Raising the bar for the upscale design and quality build of The Residence at Orchards Walk required the best in the business and we are fortunate to have Master Builder Jere Lorenz lead the development of this project. Beginning his career 35 years ago as a Carpenter, Jere’s experience has led to a multitude of positions including Site Superintendent, Project Manager, and for the past 20 years, VP of Construction. He has built over 3,500 units, both commercial and residential buildings in BC and Alberta.

Experience isn’t the only thing Jere has going for him; he also has an impressive education portfolio. “I’m always continuing to learn, and updating my construction knowledge as the industry is forever evolving with materials, building codes and energy efficiencies”, says Jere. With a master builder designation, he is also well-versed in the areas of business management, customer service, business and construction law, estimating and tendering, to name a few.

At The Residence, Jere’s day-to-day consists of working with City Planners, Development Managers, Engineers, Architects, Designers and skilled craftsmen.

Weekly walkthroughs of the building ensures every aspect meets top quality design and construction standards.

Like most things, it is as much about the people. “My favourite part of the job is working with such great people in our Orchards Walk office and on-site personnel, as well as our Executive team at PBC in Ottawa. I have always been very fortunate to work with amazing people over the years and I am always learning from them.”

When it comes to the design of The Residence, attention to detail has been key.

Each suite is modern and spacious. “In every suite you will find quality features such as adjustable and interchangeable closet shelving, solid maple kitchen cabinets, and quartz counter tops and crown moulding throughout. The under-lighting beneath the bathroom vanity also includes toe-kick interactivity to enable quick night lighting,” says Jere.

What is Jere most excited about at The Residence? He had trouble choosing just one. “There are many features that are very exciting in The Residence, such as the main floor entrance lobby that has coffee bar and lounge areas. As you enter into a 2 storey high dining room, large stone fireplaces separate the lobby area from the dining room. There is also a beauty salon, spa and wellness room, crafts and activity room, exercise rooms, fourth floor view lounge, even a wine bar, and a separate kitchen for large group functions”

When Jere isn’t busy overseeing The Residence and Orchards Walk developments, he enjoys the outdoors, hiking the local trails, with his wife and their border collie, Abbey. In the winter you can find him skiing or enjoying the live theatre in town. Jere enjoys the lifestyle that Kamloops has to offer. “The place you live, where you work and what you do for work are a big part of your life. So you have to enjoy this and the City of Kamloops and the Orchards Walk project make all of this possible for me and my wife”
